I am trying to remix End of Time-Beyonce for the remix contest, and i would like to have the tempo of the metronome be in sync with the tempo of the song. That way, beat one of the metronome is on beat one of the song. How do I get this to happen?
Also, what is flextime--how does it work, where should I visit to learn?

You don't need flex time for this kind of job.
Just vary the project's tempo until it fits. The way I do it: I cut out a piece of the song that is exactly 4 or 8 bars long (you don't lose anything doing that, you can drag out the edges again later) and then vary the tempo until the snippet fits exactly into that number of bars. That's assuming it has a constant tempo and an integer bpm number.
Ok. would you do me a favor and try this.
1. http://endoftime.beyonceonline.com/stems go here and download the drum stem
2. once download it, drag it to garageband.
3. create new project etc....now have the stem in garageband as a track,,,orange track
4.play the stem for a few seconds. notice the rhythm and beat.
5. now play the some of the beat with the metronome.
How do I get the metronome to match the beat.
I was thinking if there was a way to edit the grid where beat one starts on the garageband line indicated for beat one. Or can i edit one measure and push all the other measures down, with equal rhythm....do you get what i'm saying.

I looked at the file - set the song's tempo to 118 bpm and shift the region around so the first beat in the waveform falls on bar no. 2 - or cut away the empty part at the beginning so it starts right on beat one. (I'd prefer the former.)
ok so i cleared out the empty part. now i dragged the first beat by moving the measure until it landed on beat one of measure 3. BUT the rest of the quarter beats that follow still dont match up. what am i doing wrong?
ohhh wait is this because my gridding is on set to grid....does it need to be unchecked?? and how did you know the tempo was 118? sorry if im bugging you but this is fun and i want to learn this!!!
also can you reccomend any resource to break it down-garageband- so i can know everything i need to know about it and how to use it.
how do you find out what tempo to set it at before you align the beat?
I described my way of determining the tempo in my first post! Cut out a piece that's exactly four bars long and adjust the tempo until the snippet encompasses exactly four bars.
There's lots of other ways to determine the tempo: tap to the beat for half a minute, count the taps and double the number. I also have a bmp widget that you can use after you import the sound file into iTunes. But I find doing it directly in GB like I described to be the most exact method.
click on the on the measures (default) center bottom, set for project, it will display BPM. Set your cut in edut to the the same BPM and insert where you want it to go with your master track. (obviously you need to add your edit in it's own track. You can drag the edit track anywhere for it relate to the master track, it should sync
