I have a late 2009 Airport extreme and I recently connected my 3TB WD GReen HD to it and I am experiencing problems. It says that its in need of repair but when i connect it to my mac there isnt any issues, Please advise me on the best thing to do.
There isn't anything in this knowledge base article that indicates a limitation on drives.
Have you done a repair on the drive connected to the Mac just to be sure all is fine?
Yes, It tells me that the drive cant be modified, what do you suggest and thank you by the way
I recently was working on my friends new WD MyBook 3TB and had something similar. I ended up reformatting the drive (journaled) taken all the WD stuff the put on off and all was ok after. He hasn;t had any issues since.
If the Mac is telling you the drive cannot be modified then there is something going wrong at the drive/Mac OS X communication...you might do best by offloading any data on that drive, and athen partition/format the drive with Disk Utility to Extended (Journaled) with GUID partition table. Then see if that clears things up.
I just reset all of my Airports and restart all my macs, it took about 30 minutes but everything seems to be in a good state, thanks again.
Quite often restarting is very useful for reextablishing a connection...each component, if you shut all down then startup sequentially, gets a new starting IP address and then is ready to farm out the DHCP addresses to the subsequent components.
