How come my long distance texts do not work?
Any ideas?
What happens when you try? Error messages?
Can they text you?

Do the people you are texting "long distance" have iOS devices and are you using the Messaging "number" theyhave registered for Messages?
The inactive Send usually menads the "number" is not resgistered.
Also, you have to have the contact in your Canntact app.
As I asked before, can those "long distance" people succesfully Message you?
There is nothing special about long distance with Messages. It uses wifi and the internet, not a phone connection.
My Ipod Touch won't let me send messages out of my area code. The 'send' button stays dimmed.
I thought anyone with an IPHone automatically receives texts. So they need to 'register' for Messages or at least enable this ability?
Yes thay have to turn on/activate Messages. It is not on by default.
