The OP's issue has nothing to do with permissions. "Permission denied" is POSIX error EACCES, insufficient access permissions. "Operation not permitted" corresponds to POSIX error EPERM, a forbidden operation, such as trying to modify a read-only node.

how to install it then properly that it will work?

so how do you make this work? i've tried adjusting the read/write permissions for my root folder but still getting the same error.

Does anyone have solution to this yet? Im getting the same as Brigman. Ive tried doing some of the actions that people have posed on the web but still it will not install.

Still not installng for me. Have looked all over the internet for answers. I did call MLB and they logged it, but no follow up so far.

Also, still looking for an answer. I seem to be having a little bit of a different problem. After I attempt to install, I notice that it does not put a file into the application services portion of the Library, but only creates a disk image with the .pkg file. Need some serious help. I'm fairly new to Mac and this is the first hang up I've had yet.

Any ideas?

You're not actually installing the application. All you've done is download and mount the disk image. You now need to double-click the .pkg ("package") file to actually perform the install.

Thanks for the response. I'm ending up in a non productive loop! I double click the .pkg file, go through the installation process, get a "Installation Complete!" msg, then find that nothing installs. Only the disk image with the same .pkg file is there.

Now what?

How do you know that nothing installed? Other than the "installation complete" message, nothing further will happen on the screen. This is just a plug-in, not an application that then runs, so you won't see anything happen.

I am unable to install or enable NexDef on my Mac running OSX 10.7 or 10.8. What can I do to successfully install NexDef?

1. Go to the Applications folder, then the Utilities folder, open the Terminal application and enter the following command:ls -ltr ~/Library/Application\ Support
2. If the listing that comes up shows something similar to the following line then continue with these instructions to manually uninstall NexDef:drwx------ 7 root wheel 238 Aug 11 2011 NexDef
3. Enter the following command in Terminal to being up the NexDef folder in Finder:open ~/Library/Application\ Support
4. Delete the NexDef folder.
5. Enter the following command in Terminal:launchctl unload -S Aqua ~/Library/LaunchAgents/com.mlbam.nexdef.plist
6. Open System Preferences and select Security & Privacy. In the General tab under "Allow Applications Downloaded From" select "Anywhere"
7. Download and install NexDef
8. NexDef should now be installed and running properly. If you would like, you can return to the Security & Privacy settings from step six and change the selection from "Anywhere" back to your original setting.

Tried installing NextDef today but would not install. The error message said:

Installation failed with error 1("Failed to Install") in NexDef package.

I tried the instructions from MLB but that did not work. Any ideas?
