You have switched OS's so this will probably be hard for a while. If you are having a specific problem please ask.

This is clearly not completely accurate as you were able to download the Messenger Installer for PPC. As of Mac OS X Lion (10.7) Rosetta is not available so older application which are PPC based will not run. There is a program called iChat (in your Applications folder) and many other chat programs which I am sure a quick search on Google will reveal. I also suggest lookng through the Application folder and becoming familiar with what is available to you right now.

Ask question in the appropriate forum and use the resources at the Apple Store.

I think to be honest im gonna sell the Mac laptop, im not a a computer geek and want something thats not gonna be so hard work and i just want msn, which isnt much to ask for....£1000 for a laptop which is a constant headache, will also be warning friends not to bother stick with windows!...

You're being absolutely ridiculous. Messenger 8 works just fine. I have it running right now. Stop being a baby and giving up so easily.

Go ahead and go back to Windows if you like. Im sure you'll love the all the viruses and spyware you'll get.

Hi Templeton,

ok way to harsh, ive had my mac for 2months now and its not a easy piece of kit to just learn, ive had windows for use since i was 13 im now 29! its so different so yeah its great yours works but mine doesnt and yeah windows and virus stuff is a pain and can be slow but at least you can get what you want...to be told my comp is to new for supporting things like msn is annoying, im not from a upper class family so paying a £1000 for something which doesnt run well is a big thing, ive done research, tried to ask nicely for help, but hey mac people seem abit up themselves...not everyone is apple born...ive been to a site in which someone nice on here suggested but it came up with power pc thing when i uploaded it...

I think you should take a deep breath and really think about the money you spent and the effort you may be required to expend. This forum can be very helpful. The problem with your question is that the people answering questions are just people who had nothing to do with getting you into the situation.

So starting off that you are going to sell the machine is a tough insult to take right away. We can certainly help you if you are willing to try. If you have already given up then there is no point.

All of us spent the same amount of money to acquire the various hardware we have. Many of us have spent numberous hours solving many problems for ourselves and others. I suggest you give the forums a try and Apple support at an Apple store:

Heres the list: http://www.apple.com/uk/retail/storelist/

Is the ONLY problem you have that you don't have MSN messenger (as a side note MSN stands for MicroSoft Network and is a DIRECT competitor to Apple)?

I used a Google search for "MSN Messenger 8 Mac OS X" to locate the installer:

http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?id=4740

I confirmed this would install on my machine (MacBook Pro 15" running Mac OS X 10.7.3). I hope you will consider hanging in a little longer.

Best regards,

Wayne
