Why when I export an MP4, I get a white screen?

I've had Quicktime Player 7 Pro for awhile now. Before I had no problems exporting movies I created in After Effects from Quicktime as an MP4 and playing them back. But now, when I open a movie I created in After Effects and export it out of Quicktime as an MP4, it has great audio, but only shows a white screen. What has happened?

Please help?

I have not changed anything on my computer. It has always worked using these same settings. It just one day began rendering a white screen. Did something change when I updated my software on my computer? Is there a new codec I need to get from Quicktime?

It's frustrating because it has worked for 2 years and now this option doesn't work. This is the only reason I updated to Pro. Any thoughts?

I think I figured it out. What I was doing was opening a MP4 I created in After Effects and rendering it out of Quicktime to a MP4 to make the file smaller. For some reason this doesn't work anymore.

But, if I render a mov in After Effects and then open that in QT and render it out to a MP4, it works fine. You know why this is?

Where do I find the codec being used in the Inspector window?
