Mar 2, 2012 6:36 AM in response to Roger Wilmut1by Bernard Stay,Many thanks. The very last of Peggy's tips. Did the trick. However I now have another problem (which is why I got into trouble in the first place). If I try to Save anything I get 'An unexpected error occurred: #-51. Then AW stalls, force quit and now AW won't open even with Peggy's tips. Help! or do I get rid of everything and reinstall. I am of course relying on Rosetta. Thanks.

Mar 2, 2012 7:42 AM in response to Bernard Stayby Peggy,When ever AppleWorks crashes or you force quit it there will be some corruption of the AppleWorks preferences. To delete AppleWorks’ preference files, go to HD > Users > Library > Preferences. Find and delete the file com.apple.appleworks.plist. Find and open the folder AppleWorks in this Preferences folder, then delete all of the enclosed files (with the exception of the Button Bar Preferences if you have customized the Button Bars). AppleWorks will recreate the preference files as it needs them.

Mar 2, 2012 7:51 AM in response to Peggyby Bernard Stay,Thanks Peggy. I have done all that and AW opens but if I try to save anything (prob. print also but have no printer at moment) I get the error #-51 and AW crashes. As to the Security Updates I was away on Feb 1 so did not install that update but have since installed 2012-001 version 1.1. Is that right? Software Update check shows nothing outstanding. I'm really in trouble here and really don't want to reinstall 10.6.8 if I can help it. Will try reinstalling AW 6.2.9 if you think that'll help.
