Mar 2, 2012 6:45 AM in response to rhythmanby innocentius,It seems that you have answered the question self about compatibility (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4664?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US). I bought on eBay NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT for my MacPro 1,1 (2006) and it works well and I have 10GB Ram more enough for my computer

Mar 2, 2012 6:48 AM in response to rhythmanby Vegas22,You should be fine.
I am using it on a 1st Gen MacPro 1,1 system with 16GB of RAM (will upgrade again soon), and upgraded Radeon 5770HD grahics card.
I also have a Black Magic Intensity Pro card installe, and am using it with the BETA drivers for FCPX. Works very well. Also for storage I have a 4TB of RAID (2X WD Caviar Black),a dn 2TB for backup. As well as 16TB of storage on a DROBO via FW800.
And even more I ahev an ESATA card and running an additional 6TB of storge and backup.
Make sure that FCPX is installe don yoru system drive and that your storage is NOT on the OS system drive.
There is also otehr general maintanance and operations that you shoudl observe with running FCPX anyway. Such as Preference Management, File management and optimization, and more. If you ahven't done so already it's a good idea to get training on FCPX via Ripple Training, Larry Jordan etc. As FCPX is a different animal than any NLE out there, especially FCP7.

Mar 2, 2012 6:52 AM in response to Vegas22by innocentius,Vegas, are you satisfied with Radeon 5770HD ? Maybe better than my NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT ?

Mar 2, 2012 6:56 AM in response to rhythmanby Dirk_Williams,I also have the MacPro 1,1 (2006), 16GB Ram, ATI 5770 card. Works fine. My only complaint is that I will not be able to upgrade to Mountain Lion when it comes out this summer. Then what will happen is Apple will come out with a version of FCP X that will only run on Mountain Lion. So then a lot of us will be screwed! You might want to check and see if your Early 2008 Mac Pro will take the upgrade to Mountain Lion first before moving forward.
