There is yet another caveat. They must have the same sort of
video interface port. Thunderbolt->Thunderbolt and DisplayPort->
DisplayPort are the only support Target Display mode connections.
You cannot use a Thunderbolt Mini to connect to a DisplayPort iMac
and visa versa.
Perfectly wrong, I just got mine working right now lol.
Mac Mini mid 2011 (thunderbolt) -> iMac mid 2010 (mini Display port)
The only thing you need is a mini-Display port to mini-Display port cable and to hit command-F2 on the iMac to switch from iMac control to macMini control...
Though of course, the contrary is not possible (mini-Display to Thunderbolt Display, even with Thunderbolt cable).
What if a logicboard and HD on 24" imac is dead?
