Cannot make outgoing calls

I got my new IPhone 2 days ago and have been having issues with making calls.. says that i don't have the number right and to please try again.

the number is correct and after trying the same number 4 or 5 times.. sometimes i get through.. not sure if there is a verizon tower issue due to the

winds and storms we had the night before in Tenn or not. but it appears that this may not just be the iphone thats having issues. .. Anyone else getting
