Movies missing in ipad 2. They show up in mac itunes ipad device

Hi All,

I recently purchased an ipad 2.

I converted some movies to .m4v format via Handbrake with several different presets for ipad, this is, several settings, and afterwards, I transferred them to itunes in my macbook.

Then, I connected my ipad to the macbook. I synced the movies (selecting the ones I wanted to transfer, this is, not syncronizing all), I also tried dragging them to the ipad device in itunes. So far so good, they appeared in the ipad device in itunes in the macbook.

Afterwards, I disconnected the ipad from macbook but the movies do not show up anywhere.

So, they have to be somewhere since they appear in the itunes while connected to the macbook.

Does anyone know why in Videos App there are no videos? Am I the only one with this frustrating behaviour?

Thank you very much for your help.

Hi Michael,

Thank you so much for trying to help me out.

However, as I said in the description: "So far so good, they appeared in the ipad device in itunes in the macbook. "

I mean, the movies appear in Movies tab in the Movies library of itunes from the mac as well as in Movies tab of the ipad device in itunes from the mac.

When I disconnect the ipad from the mac, then the Videos App says: "No videos. You can download videos from itunes" even though they are in the ipad as it is said when connected to the mac. I do not know if I made me clear...

Anyway, I really appreciate your attempt to help and time.

Oblerus,

Oh Okay I see your problem.

When in itunes after sycing the movies to your ipad, make sure before you disconnect it says "syncy complete"

then once that happens, when your in itunes you will se your ipad is connected to the computer because you will see a tab to the left with the name of your ipad.hold down "Control"key on the bottom of your keyboard then click the ipad tab in itunes a small white box should pop up you can select "eject" that wil safeley remove it with interupting any downloads

Hi Michael,

I did something similar, this is, clicking on the icon next to the ipad device in itunes of mac (the icon of the eject) and then, the device disappears, this did not work.

Just in case, I tried your trick with no luck either.

After disconnecting the ipad from the mac, "No videos" message from Videos App. 😟

Thank you so much.

Oberlus,

Under Devices - Select your iPad

At the bottom of the 'Summary' screen there are a list options.

Manually manage music and videos is an option.

Depending on your preferences you can manually manage or not. I belive you do not have a check mark next to this option.

When the option does not have a check mark

Under the 'Movies' tab for your iPad, you will see Sync Movies with a check mark next to it,

And a list of all of your movies, that you added into iTunes to sync to your iPad.

Next to the movies, there is a box, click that and a check mark will appear.

Now sync, and the movies will be added to your iPad.

Hi PantherCreek,

You were right, the option at the bottom of "summary" was not selected. But the rest, I already did.

Now I have tried selecting the option you said, but no luck either.

As I said, the movie appears under Devices -> My ipad -> Movies in itunes. But after disconnecting the ipad, then I cannot find it in the Videos App.

Thank you.
