I have an iPhone 4 with a bad ESN on Sprint that I bought on ebay. The power button on the phone works randomly. I'm not currently activated on any carrier so I'm wondering if Apple will replace the phone that's essentially being used as an iPod touch even though it is a bad ESN?

The point of asking the question was to find out so I don't waste time driving to an Apple Store if I don't have to. I wanted to know if they would treat the device as a device independant of the carrier or if it needed to be activated.
Apple shouldn't care whether it's activated or not. Having said that, no-one here represents or can speak for Apple.

Call the Apple store and ask.
