Unwanted autofill email addresses
How do you delete email addresses in the Mail Application that autofill and are not contained in the address book?

Acutally the OS label above is incorrect. Using Lion 10.7.3

In Mail, drop down the 'Window' menu and select 'Previous Recipients'.
This does NOT work. I've tried it and keep sending emails to bad addresses as it autofills on old addresses which have been deleted and removed from the previous recipients list. Apple needs to allow us to clear our autofill cache!
You went to previous recipients and DELETED the old addresses/recipients? You can also watch what is filling and keep typing the good address so that bad addresses are not sent to.. then given two choices to auto fill the computer will show all close resembling ones as you enter...
Hmm, I poked around in my address book and apparently I had two entries for both of my children (the offending emails): one with first and last name, and one with only first names. I had updated email addresses in the ones which had both first and last names but didn't delete the address book entries with just the first names. I didn't realize they were even in my address book. Problem fixed now.
Great. I love it when i find a cure to things...
Thanks, helped me too!
🙂
Looks like at least part of my problem is solved as well by going to windows. I'll know for sure in days to come.
Thank you.
