iPad won't play any videos
My iPad stopped playing any kind of video? I know a lot of others are having the same issue, does anyone know if a fix has been issued?
Thanks!
iPad, iOS 5.0.1

Hi. This has been reported quite a lot for iOS 10.2.1. Have you restarted the iPad, as described above, Re: iPad won't play any videos? Please report it to Apple here https://www.apple.com/feedback/ipad.html.

Yours is the first I've seen. I doubt there are a lot of others having the issue unless you are referring to some incompatible video format.
The iPad can play MP4, M4V and some MOV videos. If you are trying to transfer other formats to the iPad without converting them, it is no wonder they will not play!

I can't play any video, music videos from iTunes, movies from iTunes, YouTube videos, Netflix or anything else?
They load but the screen is just black. I've googled the issue and found others with same issue but no one seems to have a fix.

As I said, the iPad can not play some video formats, even those that may play in iTunes on your computer. You might try selecting a problem video in iTunes on your computer. Under the Advanced menu, click on "Create iPad or Apple TV version". Then see if it works when you sync it to your iPad.
There are many videos on the web that are in incompatible formats, including WMV and FLV. If you can download them to your computer you may be able to convert them to MP4 or M4V to be played on the iPad. One program that can convert some formats is HandBrake. <Download HandBrake>

My iPad stopped playing all video. I normally watch YouTube or videos from CNN app, etc. nothing will play. It's kind of frustrating. Any help would be appreciated
Count me as another original iPad owner whose iPad stopped playing videos just this week. No format of video will play. I hope to find a fix for this.
I had a similar problem after I had updated to IOS 5.1 on my Ipad 1 this week .
So I did a full reset , ( pressing the off button and the square home button simultaneosly and holding intil the apple logo appears.) afterwards everything has worked fine and videos play as normal.
Thank you CliftonD, your answer fixed my problem.
CliftonD, that's funny: I was having the same problem as Pbjb, and updating to IOS5.1 today solved all of my problems, no full reset needed. Thank gods someone at Apple was taking care of this — I was ready to throw my iPad through a window!
I have a new iPad 3 and can't stream video from anywhere (YouTube, CNN, various websites etc.). My first generation iPad streams the same videos just fine. Resetting the iPad doesn't help. On the advice of tech support i reset the the network settings to the factory setting. This worked, but only temporarily. Having to do this constantly is a HUGE hassle. Very aggravating.

Next time it has a problem, try unplugging your WiFi router for a few seconds. Then reset the iPad's network. Go to Settings-General-Reset-Reset Network Settings, which is probably what you did before. You will need to reconnect the iPad to WiFi.

Well done. I have done the whole on-off, reset, restore, ECT (took for ever) and holding the on-off button and home button fixed it. As above my iPad all of a sudden just stopped playing my videos. Videos I have beem playing for months. Black screen. Just vedoes stopped, everything else worked on the iPad. Thanks a millllllll Clifton D. Thomo.
The full reset also worked on my 2nd generation iPad that suddenly didn't play videos anymore and didn't play any sounds. Thank you!
Thanks very much for this thread, just had the same problem which is now fixed.........cheers x
Before opening youtube, double click the home button to see all opened programs that are still running down there and close all of them including youtube...after that, switch off your i pad then switch it back on and click on youtube to enjoy your movie......
