I just got an iPhone (first time) and did not remember my Apple ID password so I could not finish that step. I reset it via the website, and I have logged in with it so I know it works. But the iphone still will not accept it. I'm afraid to keep trying for fear of getting locked out.

Where have you logged in with the corrrect password? On the computer in iTunes?
On the phone - Did you go to Settings>Store>Apple ID and sign in with the corrrect ID and password?
hi- I am trying to set up my new iPhone. it shows the right Apple ID, by default, but will not accept my reset password. is there a lag time? the phone connects to the internet OK.
I am still unclear where the phone will not accept the password. Are you talking about for purchasing content or are you talking about unlocking the phone so that you can use it?
If you mean that iTunes will not accept the password - You can try signing out of the account restart the phone and the sign in again. Sometimes that helps reset everything.
Settings>Store Apple ID - tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPhone - then go back to Settings>Store and sign in.
I tried rebooting my new iPhone 4s, but it is still telling me I have an incorrect Apple ID or password. I have logged in to my Apple account on the desktop with me email address and password, and have re-set the password three times without any luck.
