audio/wav MIME types Downloading instead of playing in Browser window

Hi Gurus,

At our business we' use iMacs running 10.6.8, and wav files have stopped playing inside the broswer window!! 😮

Recently (after an iTunes upgrade I recall) wav files have started being downloaded rather than playing in a browser window. Becasue we use a VoIP based phone system, voicemail is delivered to us via web in a .wav format. Our preference is to play these right inside a window.

There is no fancy code behind the file being presented.

i.e the URL would looke something like this -> http://www.ourvoicemailprovider.com/voicemailbox01/msg_003.wav

Immediatly my brain jumped to the "helper" application idea, however there are no settings in Safari to choose a "helper" application for MIME types!! 😕 I was able to find a URL which lists the mapped MIME types: -> file:///Applications/Safari.app/Contents/Resources/English.lproj/Plug-ins.html

When I look at the above file, it actually shows that QuickTime Plug-in 7.6.6 is the set for audio/wav (wav, bwf) and audio/x-wav (wav, bwf) MIME types.

Any suggestions on how to force these files to open in Safari using the QuickTime Plug-in rather than downloading them??

Thanks for any suggestions!!
