How to become a ACMT?

I'm pretty sure this is in the wrong forum but I don't know where else to post this.

I'm 17 and currently work at JCPenney as a shoe salesman. I get minimum wage but do work off 3% commision as well. I'm going off to college and will be moving towards the end of May. I would love an IT job! I am so ready to get out of Penney's lol but they have been pretty great to me.

There is a position open at my (future) local Best Buy for a Geek Sqaud In House Technician. I know it's way early to start applying and I know I won't get the job because I won't be there for 2 and a half motnhs but at least I'll be in the system and I can apply again when I get down there.

I was looking through the expectations/requirements and I saw that any Apple Certifications are a big +. So would an ACMT fit into that? Isn't the ACMT the basic/entry level certification? How do I go about becoming certified? Can I do it online or do I have to go to a testing center? How much is it? Is it worth it? What kind of difficulty can I expect?

I'm pretty well versed in Mac hardware and software and I think I would be able to do fine but is there something I can study? I know you do have to pay and I want to be prepared and not waste however much it costs.

Help Me? lol thanks!!

@baltwo

Thanks for the link. That is as far as I got before I posted here. I'm confused about what tests to take. I rarely post in forums but after about 2 hours of googling I decided I need some help. Apple is usually so streamlined but these certifications are confusing the chiz out of me! lol

My only goal right now is to get the ACMT. Do you know what tests I need to take or can you link me to the start of it all? This is where I got too http://www.prometric.com/Apple/default.htm I would very much like to do this online I really don't want to take off school to go test.

@shootist007

I know my way around windows as well. I grew up on Macs at school but we had XP at home. I've taken Java/C#, Alice, and Flash classes all on windows and a hardware basics/101 course for windows so hopefully I know enough about both to stand out. As far as linux goes I've only ever worked on Ubuntu and I'm not extremely familiar with it.

I just want to be able to stand out for any tech position I apply for GS or not so besides Apple Certs would getting A+ be a waste of my time? It is a several month course, correct? Can I take that online as well?
