When would be Dtrace available on OsX?

As soon as somebody ports it:) That's a fairly complex problem for Dtrace, since it interacts with the system at a fairly low level, I think is written partially in assembler, and uses a certain binary filetype that are all very different on powerpc/OSX vs intel/solaris and even /freebsd.

Jordan Hubbard mentioned Apple was interested in it.

Edit: in the mean time, OS X has ktrace, kdump, and fs_usage, which provide some of the same functionality as Dtrace.

Well… that's a bit like saying TextEdit provides some of the same functionality as InDesign. 🙂

OTOH, it's available now and does do a ((perhaps) very) few of the functions...if all a newbie OSXer knows is Solaris, he may not know what system-specific tools we do have (on the chance that they do the specific tasks needed).
