They are basic iOS apps and cannot be removed. The best you can do is move them to a back page so you don't have to see them. While Reminders can be moved into a folder, Newsstand cannot, since it emulates a folder itself.

Unfortionaltely you cant because they are apples apps. There are a handful of others that you cant remove. The best you can do is hide all of the unwanted apple apps in a "junk" folder. You can hide your newsstand in another folder but its pretty tricky. Heres how you do it.

  • Take two apps and go to create a folder
  • The second the apps are in the folder and it’s doing the folder creation animation, drag Newsstand into the folder
  • As long as you’re quick enough Newsstand will go into the folder!

sorry to be the bearer of bad news 😟

iPhone 3GS. Just "upgraded" to iOS 5.1 and discovered this annoying Newstand spam app. Have attempted to move it into a folder as described in various YouTubes. Appears Apple has addressed this with iOS5 so that you cant move into a folder. At least on my phone, it appears there is just enough of a lag time when you try to grab and move it to prevent it from moving into new folder.

Why they would do this is indicative of insidious business character many are apparently becoming enlightened to.
