iPhone 4s can't make or recieve calls or messages

I have just purchased an iPhone 4s on T-Mobile. My 3G works fine for web browsing but I can't make or receive calls or messages. I've tried resetting the phone and even a reinstall of the latest OS update but to no avail. I've seen that people have similar issues and I've tried all the suggested 'fixes' that I can find too but again of no use. I assume that my phone must be faulty and not a network issue as 3G is working for web but happy to try any other suggestions people may have in the meantime.

Positive, I've disabled WiFi and just had 3G and it will pick up the web ok.

I guess it could be my sim card that's faulty. But don't have another phone that takes mini-sim to test it with so will try Network Operator again : (

go to the tmobile store they will test the sim for u if they have a mini sim card adapter..if thats work then go to your nearest apple store and ask for a replacement 126 pounds if you havent got warranty left

ive got the same problem now

It might help if you take the battery out and put it back in after 10mins , I did this to my blackberry curve8520 and it worked.

It's definitely not working on TMobile (US) 3G as no iPhone currently available supports TMO's 3G bands.

Yes, I think visiting my local T-Mobile store is worth a try but that will have to wait until the weekend now : (

I'll have a go with crappy (no knowledge) phone support in the meantime.

Thanks for the suggestion but looking at the size of the screws on the base of my iPhone I don't actually have a screwdriver small enough to try this.

Diesal - I'm in UK and it definitely works here, although at present not being able to make and receive calls makes this iPhone more like a glorified iTouch.

The iPhone is not designed to be user accessible. If the user opens the device, the warranty is void.

Thanks for all those that have offered suggestions and advice. I now know what the cause of the problem is...

Apparently my phone has been 'blacklisted' by T-Mobile. They openly admit that they recognise the phone as being registered to me and owned by me as new. So they or myself can't understand why this has happened. They would have been quite happy to replace it but it wasn't actually purchased from them so now I have to battle with the Carphone Warehouse to get it replaced. 😟

I'll be demanding some compensation for sure.
