You can sync contacts with the Address Book app on your Mac. There is not an option to import contacts from the iPhone's Contacts app only with a supported address book app.

Here is a URL that lists down the process to move contacts from your iMac to your iPhone and vice versa.

For me .. what I do is plug in the iPhone (5s for me) and open iTunes.

Click the iPhone icon on the top of the where the music, movies, tv shows icons on the top left.

That will then open up the iPhone that goes from top to bottom of Summary, Apps, Movies ... and down the list on the bottom is 'Info'.

Click on the 'Info' and the Sync Contacts and Sync Calendar windows will appear.

Hit the Apply button on the button and iPhone contacts will then automatically go into your iMac contacts book usually on your dock bar at the bottom of your iMac.

Further down under 'Advanced'  if you want to replace the information on the iPhone with what is on the iMac ... click on contacts button and hit the apply button .. voila ... your iPhone contacts book will then be filled up with all your iMac contact contents.

If you ever have to do a factory restore ... which will wipe all your data ... and clean out your iPhone.

This part of the iTunes will save your bacon ... where it is easy and fast to put your music back on, all your apps and put your contacts back in so your iPhone is completely restored and rebuilt with the data backup you have had on your system ...

so be sure to sync your iPhone with iTunes all the time and keep your data updated.

    Hope that is a help.

One hopes, in the three years since the OP posted this (and hasn't been seen since) that, they have resolved their issue. You got caught by a zombie thread.
