My webcam wont work with my Mac mini, I have a Sogatel USB 2.0 webcam, when I connect to the mac mini it wont work. Ive looked at the actualy USB in system perferences and the webcam is recognised as being plugged in. However when i try to use it with any applications it doesnt work. any suggestions?

Can you check on the packaging if this Sogatel USB 2.0 webcam lists whether it uses the UVC video standard or USB class?
I think that's where the problem might lie. The only USB webcams that i've ever seen and used that worked on Macs out the box plug and play without any drivers required (either from sourceforge or Maccam etc) are the ones that are based on UVC standard, USB Video Class.
Matter of fact, i have a cheapo Dynex UVC webcam hooked up to my Mac Mini which i use with everything under the sun from Skype to Quicktime, iMovie, works in Parallels, Fusion etc, you name it. UVC is built into OS X by default since 10.4.

Same problem i have a microsoft camera 1407 and it worked fine, try to get a new one and use macam with no luck now when i try plug my old camera it dosent work , system preferences recognice it but can use it in any aplications, what to do??
Try and look for a webcam that is UVC compliant, USB Video Class.Those do not require any of those fussy Maccam drivers or drivers of any sort. They just work out the box natively with Macs, no extra software or drivers to muck with. I use a Dynex (BestBuy in-house brand) UVC cheapo webcam with my Mac Mini (for years now) and it works just fine with everything from iMovie to FaceTime to Skype, GTalk, iChat and everything in between.
