Mar 4, 2012 5:23 PM in response to djf97223by Pondini,Have you followed the instructions carefully, making sure they're on the same network, etc? I assume your PC is running Windows XP SP3 or greater.
Do you get the "welcome" window per the first sample in the article?

Mar 5, 2012 6:10 AM in response to Pondiniby djf97223,This tranfer is from an external hard drive that captured all docs, pics, etc and no that is a part of the issue, I have not received that pop up welcome window, just DOS script when I click on the download.

Mar 5, 2012 8:28 AM in response to djf97223by Pondini,Ah, so you're not transferring directly from a PC.
In that case, you cannot use Windows Migration Assistant -- it runs on a PC and communicates with the Mac version of Migration Assistant to copy the files.
You'll need to copy the files yourself -- see the Manually Migrating section of Switch 101: Migrate your Windows files or system to your Mac.
Use the Finder to open the external HD and copy the files to your home folder, as listed in the article, in the "Tip: If you're moving files over manually. . ." section.

Apr 6, 2012 6:34 AM in response to djf97223by twosugars,Hey did you resolve the transfer in the end?
all my music is on my new imac already (over 20,000 tracks) and also on my hard drive where i have been using it from for my pc
but i want to transfer all the ratings and playlist data from the pc to my mac
the migration assistant on the mac only lets you swap from mac to mac and i downloaded the same dos file you did which is for a pc only
so i have the migration assistant on my pc waiting to accept connection to the mac but it seems to be a one way thing right now
any help resolving this would be amazing
had to start from scratch with playlists etc every time ive bought a new computer in the past and really cant be bothered again when i know theres a way of swapping the data
thanks

Apr 10, 2012 4:52 PM in response to twosugarsby djf97223,Thanks for following up. I brought in the laptop and had tech dept. transfer the library, which was not an easy task for even their 'expert' team. Since getting back my computer, half the library has disappeared again.
