So that we can watch streaming videos from various websites on the tv. And if so, what kind of cable do we need?
This is for a Mid 2009 MacBook Pro, 13" with 2.26 Ghz Intel Core Duo processor.

For your MBP you will need an adapter such as the following and an HDMI cable for video:
For audio, you will have to tap the audio output port and connect to the TV RCA audio input connections. This will give you an idea of what will be required:
