Up until a week or so ago, I was able to listen to flac files through finder by selecting the file and clicking the space bar but that's not working anymore. Can anyone tell me how to reenable that feature? It's not like finder is my prefered method for listening to music through but it's convenient when I'm creating playlists and stuff.

Remember what software you installed to play FLAC, check if you still have it and if it works, and check its settings; if that doesn't help, go to its support forum or contact the developer. Any software that integrates with Finder in the way you describe is liable to break if you update your OS or a relevant part of it, such as QuickTime.
