Will Lion be compatible with my iWorks 08 and Office 2008?

Hi,

I'm contemplating an upgrade to Lion, but am hearing some discouraging things about software compatibility. I'm wondering what the effect of an upgrade to Lion would have on the following:

iWorks 08

Microsoft Office 2008

iDVD

iPhoto and iLife 09

I've checked my system to see which had a PowerPC base, and only the Microsoft Office 08 software does.

Can anyone tell me if there will be any adverse effect on the above listed software?

If your Office 2008 has PowerPC code then it is not compatable with Lion.

The components I see for Office that are PowerPC based are:

Open XML for Charts

Open XML for Excel

Open XML for Word and

pptfc

Everything else on my system is NOT PowerPC based. Are these listed items essential to run Office 2008?

Great page that does answer my questions, but leads to another. The website compares compatibiilty with BOTH Lion AND Mountain Lion. How can compatibility with Mountain Lion be known if the OS hasn't even been released yet? Makes me a little nervous to trust the results. Am I just paranoid?

It is quite possible that someone at that site has access to the developer's preview of Mountain Lion (although any information in regards to that should not be shared due to their NDA).

Stevejobsfan0123 is perfectly correct, Office 2008 works just fine, with one minor exception (unless you need it I guess) the MS Query addin is PPC and does not work.

We switched back to SL, but iDVD worked fine with 10.7
