Delete photos while previewing them like in windows

I am new to Mac (using since September 2011).

Love everything about it, except one very important feature is missing, unless, of course, I don't know how it's done correctly on the mac (Lion OS).

Let's say in Windows (any version) you can open a photo in standard windows picture viewer and if you don't like that photo, you can simply hit delete and that photo is deleted while _you are taken to a next photo_. This does not happen in Lion OS. If I delete the photo in standard mac's Preview by hitting Command+Delete, the photo is gone, but it takes me back to the beginning of the folder with all photos. Then I have to find where I stopped and continue my search. This is very inconvenient. Again, if I am doing something wrong - Please help!

Thank you in advance!

Karen

Go to the folder with the pictures. Select all pictures (Command + A) then right click and select open. A preview window with all images will open, you can now browse through the pictures and if you don't like one delete it (Command + Delete). The picture will go straight to your trash can and you will be taken to the next picture. Hope this helps.

Thank you for your responce. I don't like using iPhoto due to its own library structure management. To me that's not an option. I have many hard drives with photos on them and I would like to be able to do what windows previewer does. Perhaps Apple can add such function to their Previewer. It does delete photos same way as in WIndows, why not jumping onto the next photo instead of taking me all the way back?

P.S. I meant quick preview option, where you hit Space to preview the photos.

Preview, as the name implies, is meant just for quick and easy viewing of files in different formats, without having to open the applications that created the format. It is not design for file management.

I recommend using iPhoto (free with every Mac) to import, store, manage and edit your photos. You'll have a much easier time with it.
