Q: beaping wont turn on

I have had my iMac turned off for around a week now and when I went to turn it on it started beaping at me... no more like blowing a horn at me. Just before this it was sounding like a vacuum cleaner whenever it was running... It won't turn on now. Thinking I need to visit Apple store??
