Missing "Desktop"

Hello everyone,

My problem is that my "Desktop" disappeared. I tried to restore with Time Machine, but I got this error message: "You can put items into “Desktop”, but you won’t be able to see them. Do you want to continue?" and "Other users with sufficient permissions will be able to use the items". If I click on "Desktop" in Finder, I got this message: "The folder “Desktop” can’t be opened because you don’t have permission to see its contents."

I don't know what happened, and what should I do to restore it. Please help me!

(I have an idea why this happened. I read on some websites that the computer's name couldn't contains special caracters, as the default settings give: "XY's Computer". So that's why I changed it, after that my desktop disappeared.)

Thanks in advance,

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)
