Q: Back to my Mac works when at home, but not when traveling

Hi, hope someone can help with this. After some tweaking, I got sharing of drives/screen to work using Back to my Mac, when I am at home (i.e., Mac Pro at home and MB Air at home and one same network). However, when in the office with the MB Air, the Mac Pro does not show under Shared in Finder.

This sort of defeats the purpose of the whole mechanism, so I hope there is a solution?

Whether it works or not will depend on the capabilities of the router you are connecting to. see the following article.

Thanks for your input. At home, I use a Time Capsule, with the absolute latest firmware, so it should be suitable.

However, I might have problems with the setup? If I turn off and on Back to my Mac under iCloud settings, sometimes I get a message that I should enable NAT/UnPP. Checking the setup of the Time Capsule, the router is in Bridge mode (NAT off). If I try turning on NAT, I get an error in Airport Utility about double NAT.

Any advice on this?

You get the double NAT message because you have multiple layers of NAT, I assume your main router is always using it. Not all routers support uPNP. You might try putting the AirPort into bridging mode.
