Q: cannot get printer to print with my iMac but will print from my dell laptop?

Photos for MacOK, well you haven't provided any information so there isn't anything we can do. What is needed at the bare minimum is:
- Exactly what printer are you referring to?
- How is it connected to the iMac (USB, Wi-Fi, etc...)?
- What steps you have taken to connect the printer?
- What errors you have run into.
What I would recommend is using Apple's Printing Overview OS X Lion to learn how to install it. Also take a look at Printer and scanner software for Snow Leopard & Lion to see if it's even compatible with Lion.
