My ipad ringtone does not work for incoming calls. How do I fix it?

I am having the same problem on a third-gen iPad. I can't hear a ringtone when a FaceTime call comes in. When I look in the Settings > Notifications > FaceTime, I don't see an option to even turn off the sound for FaceTime. I also looked in Settings > General > Sounds and my Ringtone is set to a sound - I've tried several sounds.

I wrote the above paragraph and then checked everything I could think of with the side switch and muting etc. Finally I found it: Double-press the Home button. Slide your finger right to go left on the multitasking bar. At the far left of the multitasking bar, I had a Sound button with a line through it. I tapped the button to enable it. Now my ringtone works.

hhhmmm ipads are not phones so you dont call them as such

do you mean using skype or iMessage or something?
