iTunes producer error ITMS 9000

I receive this error message but don't know how to decipher it or correct the problem. It seems to refer to a small image that I have long-since deleted. Help?

I have solved this issue. So with me it was seeing files within a keynote presentation. At first their were five errors but I stumbled upon this - simply re-save the keynote as a keynote 09 file and this time call the keynote you are inserting something extremely simple like "K1" or something - this worked great for me and solved all the issues.

...it appears the filepath reference of that file is too long - take it out, shorten the reference to less than the limit of 180 characters, put it back and go again.

Fabe and KT. Both suggestions sound reasonable, except that the image file referred to (in the error message) was deleted from the book last week. I've done the "Select All" thing on all surrounding pages to see if it is hiding somewhere. No luck so far. I'm now deleting the only page that the image ever occupied. Somehow the residue of the filepath remains to haunt me. Any other ideas are welcomed. I'll try publishing without that (non-essential) page. I'll let you know.

thanks

While attempting to upload the file, It would appear that a new problem has appeared. Not sure if the first problem disappeared, but I'll start weeding through 100s of words in the glossary looking for "fragments." I have small images in many of the glossary definitions. Could this be a problem? Incidentally, this file works great as an iBook on my iPad, both as a proof and as a downloaded book. Am I on the right track for the error below?

ERROR ITMS-9000: "OPS/glossary173.xhtml(3): 'g-332FC92E-8AFD-4086-9050-A896FEEACEDD': fragment identifier is not defined in 'OPS/content11.xhtml'" at Book (MZItmspBookPackage)

KT,

Do I have a backup of the drive, or the file? I have both. I run Time Machine hourly. Is it possible to export some sort of text doc from the glossary? That would let me actually look at the data.

If I could figure out what "fragment identifier is not defined in 'OPS/content11.xhtml'" refers to, that would help quite a bit. After the third attempt at submission, I now have the following error message...

ERROR ITMS-9000: "OPS/glossary184.xhtml(3): 'g-7150A6B6-679E-464B-ACFA-1A7D4B2FF56F': fragment identifier is not defined in 'OPS/content11.xhtml'" at Book (MZItmspBookPackage)

Whatever this is, it seems to be multiplying. Does Producer examine the whole file before issuing an error, or does it stop at the first problem? I don't know if I'm peeling the onion or what?

Thanks

I think iTP takes a global run at error checking...but of course it can't be an exhaustive effort unless you fix everything and don't introduce more 🙂

You can get into an iBooks file package and look at the xml if that will help...

You do know those iTMS errors tend to be a bit generic? Not that they don't point to something dirty, just that I'd use them more as a bobber and not trust them on face value.

OK, I think I may know what's happening, but I don't know an easy way to rectify it.

I put the glossary together while reading through the book and trying to think like a typical reader. This means that I added glossary items as I read through the chapters, amassing quite a list. When culling through the massive list and assigning meanings, I noticed a dozen or so words whose meanings worked well for other glossary words. I then reapplied the glossary defs and page refs to the "close enuf" words and deleted the extra words from the glossary.

Probably a bad thing to do, as it turns out. If I had known what sticky fingers that iTP would have, I would have handled it somewhat differently. But that's milk spilt under the bridge 🙂

The question now is what to do to Brillo the Glossary of the carnage? All suggestions are welcome (aside from start over... way to big a project!)

Thanks again,

OK, hair-pulling commencement...

I've now re-entered as non-formatted text (one-entry-at-a-time) every one of the 200+ Glossary entries, and relcated and replaced all illustrations on the Glossary pages. Still, iTP just will not pass this file. Note... the image files noted in this error message are not- repeat not in the book. I can't remove what isn't there. Somebody please help me understand how to correct the glossary "fragments" if they don't appear anywhere. Can you help me parse ths infor to at least see what page these fragments are in? I don't understand the statements, nor do I understand how to make it right.

This part of the iTunes Producer document may help you. However, I only just notices this after fixing the problem.

The term 'glossary173' refers to the page on which your glossary entry is. The only way I could work out what page it was on was by going to 'print' and keying in the page (e.g. 173). Then I simply deleted the hyperlinks for this entry and reinstated them, and it seemed to work. Luckily I only had one problem.

Hope that helps!
