iPod Touch MA627LL won't update to latest firmware

Please help...I have an iPod touch 16g model MA627LL (not sure, but think it's 1st generation), and can't seem to update to the latest firmware.

I'm runnin on v2.21(5H11). Every time I click on "Check for Updates" in iTunes, it only displays my current version and won't do anything else. I've tried restoring to factory settings...no luck. HELP!

iPod touch, Windows 7

I think you're correct - that is a 1st generation Touch.

The 1st gen Touch can only go as high as iOS 3.1.3 and you say yours is running iOS 2.2.1. However, iOS 3.1 is a paid-for upgrade. To purchase it for your iPod, go to http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2052 for details. It doesn't cost much, just a few dollars or equivalent in your currency.

Remember that some Apps now require iOS version above iOS 3.1.3, so even if you do upgrade, there may be Apps that will not run on your iPod. That still leaves a lot that will work on your iPod though.
