Has anyone used a Sony HDR-CX160 with FCP X?

A friend has one of these he wishes to sell. I'm going to borrow it over the weekend. Anyone know if this will import to FCP X? I did not see it listed in the FCPX Supported Camera list, but there are other HDR-CX camcorders listed.

What is 60p? "FEATURES: 1920x1080 Full HD 60p Recording"

Thanks in advance.

Hi Alfredo,

60p means 60 full frames per second (as opposed to 60i, which is 60 half-frames per second interlaced).

I have a HDR-CX570E (european version), which is also not on the list.

50p/60p files are not recognized by FCPX. I convert the 50p files of my camera with media converter (http://media-converter.sourceforge.net/) to .mov files and import those to FCPX. For this you need to download an additional preset called "Re-wrap AVCHD for Quicktime - uncompressed Audio" (http://media-converter.sourceforge.net/presets.html). FCPX will recognize the 50p format files just fine then, and I think it will work with 60p as well.

I only shoot in 50p now and could not be happier with this camera.

Hope this helps,

Thomas
