FCP X animate text / zoom

I'm trying to make a simple text 'grow' - a text title fades on, then zooms up slowly to fill more of the screen. Am using keyframes and applying the transform effect but nothing is working - I see the wireframe grow, but the text doesn't grow with it - any advice please?

What exactly are you keyframing and how are you doing it? It works for me.

Set the text the way you want it at the start. Click the keyframe button in the viewer. Move to a later point in time. Scale the text up using the transform function. Done. It may depend on the exact title you're using. Which one are you using exactly?
