If you want to sync them to the iPhone, you'll need to get the contacts into Windows Address Book or Outlook on a PC or Address Book on a Mac. Once you do that, Select the proper source in iTunes and Sync them. You can also sync to any number of cloud services. Google Contacts (with G-mail configured as an Exchange account), Yahoo, iCloud, etc.

Is there no possibility to direct import/export the contacts?

I don't use Windows Address Book or Outlook on my PCs (XP, Vista, Win7).

I neither did exposure my data to a cloud service nor do I have a Google ID.

I would prefere do programm the neccessary mix- or sync-routines on my own and import/export the data either to the iPhone directly or via iTunes.

All my email contacts are in thunderbird, but it is no a contact manager?

Than iphone is not an email device.

I solved my problem. I changed to a Android smartphone and will use the iphone to play music in the car.

I worked since 1968 in IT as programmer, sys- and net-admin and manager and I don't like the way, how Apple dominates user to go there and only there way.

User friendly means, to allow everbody to get happy on his own way and not to force everbody to one solution.

You appear to have a reading comprehension problem. Tim said it is not a "compatible contact manager" or, in another post, not a "supported contact manager". Both of those phrases mean something quite different than "no(t) a contact manager".

Glad that you have found something that suits your needs. Have fun in the Android forums.

Not supported means you can not sync to it directly. Read the manual. You can sync with MS Outlook and Windows Address Book on Windows, Contacts (Address Book) on OS X, iCloud, Yahoo, Exchange, and any number of other cloud services.

As for "interface documentation", if you want that, sign up as a developer. That is not "user" level "stuff".
