iTunes gift card already been redeemed by another account

Has anyone else gone to redeem an iTunes gift card and been told that it has already been redeemed?

This happened to me last week. I scratched off the panel, entered the code and got the message 'The Gift Certificate or iTunes Card you entered has already been redeemed'.

When i reported this to Apple thay advised that they needed a picture/scan of the card and the shop receipt where it was purchased, I provided this information and was told there was nothing they could do to help. They know the acount that has used this code but still they will not investigate how this has happend.

So I loose my £25! I have gone back to them again and they have now offered to credit my account with 10 songs, so about £8.

How is this right!?

I agree with you. You are right that Apple is not revealing the name of the hacker. Now this is a federal case and I informed FBI. Apple ahould stop this fiasco to keep up their credibility. I wrote to CEO of both Apple and best buys with tangible response. It is about time FBI should get involved and trace the origin of the hackers. IT IS LIKE NIGERIAN CONNECTION happened a few years ago.

I have written to FBI since peddling fraudulent gift cards comes under their juridction. It is physically not possible to get a reply stating that the card value has already been redeemed. Somebody is peddling fraudulent cards like credit and debit cards. I do not recommend anybody buying gift cards. When things happen in best buy stores what might happen on EBay? I will let you know the outcome.

Don't know if it's possible, but Apple customer service is of no help. They won't give out that information, no matter how much proof you have. Why not, is beyond me. If you do find an external method to find out please post back and let us know. Personally, I wouldn't waste my time and chalk it up to a loss and a lesson learned to stay clear of any itunes gift cards. Apple's getting their money regardless so it seems like they could care less.

This is still happening. IF YOU HAVE ANY ITUNES GIFT CARDS - REDEEM THEM NOW! Because Apple is totally UNWILLING to help do anything about THEIR problem.

Same thing $100 Gift Card I purchased, still have the receipt and Apple's response "Sorry there is nothing we can do."

TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE (and I really hate that term)

So Apples is saying yes, great gift idea, give a iTunes Gift Card for what ever occasion of but if you or the person you give it to has a problem redeeming it, Apples response is opps, we suckered another one!

I should've checked online before I bought 4 iTune gift cards for my nephews as Thanksgiving gifts. Spent $200 but get nothing, not to mention the shame when my nephews told me the cards have already been redeemed. Also, encountering people from customer service is really uncomfortable. They promise you they will fixed the problems with you, but at the end, just told you there's nothing they can do. It's totally wasting time and money. I'll never buy anything from iTune store again!

The lesson is NEVER BUY APPLE's GIFT CARDs, there are problems they don't even care about fixing.

I experience this fraud last night and I'm shocked to see all the posts and even a video on YouTube of it happening!

In my case I finally decided to spend some money from a £25 card that was given to me by my wife with the original iPad.

It came up with this error, so I tried another £25 card, same result. Emailed Apple who advised already redeemed to another account.

I then used two £15 cards which worked ok.

Appalled to see such widespread fraud, with Apple seemingly doing so little

Well, several emails to Apple customer services later and, guess what, I am no further forward.

'Ryan' is clearly unwilling to acknowledge the issue or investigate the beneficiary of my codes.

Without a receipt (from 2010), they consider it 'case closed'.

But I don't.

I have obtained our credit card statements and sent them to the retailer in the hope that they can interrogate their system and identify the transaction which purchased the two cards.

If that doesn't resolve the issue, I'll be writing to Apple UK executive Mark Rogers.

If no resolution after that, then it will be to consumer protection agencies and media channels as advised above.

Totally unacceptable way to treat honest customers, whilst allowing frauds to prosper.

So Barclay issued 3 new gift cards via their vendor Cashstar. Again, all 3 digital gift cards say they have already been redeemed. So either Apple is giving them bad numbers or Cashstar is a complete fraud. Either way, it all lands back on Apple & Barclay since they chose to partner with Barclay. So silly that they wouldn't just partner with Apple directly on that. I doubt I'll ever get this resolved.
