iTunes gift card already been redeemed by another account

Has anyone else gone to redeem an iTunes gift card and been told that it has already been redeemed?

This happened to me last week. I scratched off the panel, entered the code and got the message 'The Gift Certificate or iTunes Card you entered has already been redeemed'.

When i reported this to Apple thay advised that they needed a picture/scan of the card and the shop receipt where it was purchased, I provided this information and was told there was nothing they could do to help. They know the acount that has used this code but still they will not investigate how this has happend.

So I loose my £25! I have gone back to them again and they have now offered to credit my account with 10 songs, so about £8.

How is this right!?

Well I see these posts are in 2012 but guess what? This is January 2018 and I had that problem twice. I bought an iTunes gift card on Best Buy's online and it happened. Then I physically went down to the store and bought another card. When I went on my Apple ID acct to check the balance it said to enter valid ID? What? Then when I asked my son to redeem it he said that it says it's already been redeemed. What the heck is going on?

This has happened to me too and I've been told Tough Luck, there's nothing we can do. Where has my money gone? I've gone back to Apple and asked to be referred to a Supervisor as I''m not happy. Some kind of fraud is taking place here and it's not right.

In the meantime I have removed my credit card details from my Apple account and I won't be spending another penny until this issue is sorted out properly.

Please tell all your friends not to buy giftcards!

This also just happened to me with 2 x iTunes £15 gift cards. They were Christmas presents from last year but none were scratched/used.

Tried one last night and I got the 'already redeemed' message!

So I recorded a video of the second card foil being scratched off and entered in to iTunes - only to get the same message! So at least I have video proof that this is a problem at Apple and NOT my end as the Apple Customer reps would have you believe.

My issue is being addressed by Apple support via phone and I am expecting a call back today. I have informed them that the video can be emailed or uploaded to YouTube (via private link) as evidence that I am not in the wrong.

Apple Customer service are fobbing me off. This is an Apple fault - not mine, not the customer.

With the large number of these types of posts something is not right at all. The Press will be informed as will various consumer support groups (Watchdog, Trading Standards, etc.).

Apple if you are reading this, issue a statement to those who have the problem and stop fobbing them off.

Well, in a way I am glad that others are still having this problem and I never did get my money back from Apple or even any credit to spend.

If everyone who experience this problem could post in just one or two threads, then perhaps they (Apple) will be able to see the scale of the problem.

I kept to my promise - I have not spent a single penny in the itunes Store since this happened and told everyone I know NOT to buy itunes gift cards.

I also bought a Samsung Tablet instead of an iPad this christmas and have no intention of buying anything Apple again until this issue is sorted out.

Hi, all I'm glad I'm not the only one. I have 2 vouchers worth £25 and they have both been reddmed by someone else. I have been emailing itunes for several weeks now and after having proved that I purchased the vouchers they are now saying I should go back to the shop where I purchased the vouchers. How can they possibly help when they know that it is a fault in their security system? They know exactly who redeemed the vouchers but are expecting me to accept 10 song credits. I've told them that it is not acceptable and I would like to speak to someone in person. Having just discovered this forum I am even more furious than ever with them as they know full well that this is not a one-off and all that business about me getting to prove I purchased the vouchers was just delaying tactics. For a multinational company I think it's disgusting and I will not let them off the hook.

Hi.

I recently bought a £15 ituens gift card for my partner. Since she is not too savvy with itunes, I went on to her account to redeem it for her. I scratched off the panel and entered the code into the correct box on itunes and was told "the gift certificate or card you have entered has already been redeemed".

I took the card back to Morrisons Supermarket in Guiseley where I had bought it and was told that since Morrisons only sell gift cards on behalf of iTunes and receive a commission, that they could do nothing and I had to take the problem up with iTunes.

Well, dealing with iTunes is no easy thing. I finally found what I thought was the right area on the website and was directed to send an email. I did this, but the chap I got through to seemed to think I had a problem with my iTunes software or that I didn't know how to redeem the card. I tried my best - over several emails - to get through to him that the problem was with the gift card code and that they may have been hacked. It would be very easy for them to find out that a) I wasn't the one who had redeemed the code and b) who the culprit was due to the fact they would know whose iTunes account the code had been credited to. I got nowhere, the chap sent me a link to "account security" and told me to phone them even though it was not possible to get a phone number from the link he sent me.

So, I got back in touch with Morrisons customer complaints and basicaaly told them that as far as I was concerned they were selling faulty goods on behalf of another company and that they should at least try and help me out with iTunes. I have since received an email from Morrisons asking for all the details of the card so they can look into it. iTunes - meanwhile - have stopped replying to my emails and I am now being completely ignored by them.

Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone know where I stand and how I can either get my money back or get the funds put on to my partners iTunes account?

Many thanks

Damian

Yup, same problem here. Apple just ignore and shrug you off. They refuse to even consider my video evidence of the problem and say to go back to the retailer I purchased the cards from; which was probably 1.5 years ago and the receipt is long gone.

Apple = a billion dollar company and they cannot even refund me a couple of faulty £15 quid gift cards. That's customer service for you.

We are all screwed. Apple took our money and ran.
