    Hold down the Option key while clicking to open Aperture.  Keep it held down until you get a dialogue to either choose between libraries (which will not apply to you) or to create a new Library.  Does this work?

    This kind of error has happened a few times recently; did you install Final Cut?

    In your System Library a framework seems to be missing: /Library/Frameworks/PluginManager.framework/Versions/B/PluginManager

    Open your System Library and look if the PluginManager.framework really is missing.

    (to open your Library use the FInder "Go" menu:

    Finder -> Go -> Go to Folder

         and enter /Library

    )

    If the framework really is missing, the safest way to restore it is to reinstall the Operating System using an update combo, see:

         Aperture 3.x: Aperture unexpectedly quits if Final Cut Express 4 is installed:

    Hi Léonie,

    Thank you so much for your advice, yes I have recently installed Final Cut Express and PluginManager.framework does appear to be missing, my only querry with your suggestion is the latest update combo is for 10.6.7 and I am running 10.6.8, will this still do the job? I've never used an update combo before so I am a little nervous! thank you again for taking the time to help me.

    Kind regards,

    Annie...

    There is a 10.6.8 Combo Update at the Apple Support page: Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1

    Does that link not work for you? If you upgrade using the 10.6.7 Combo you will have to run the Software Update from the Apple Menu immediately to update to 10.6.8 after you reinstall from the 10.6.7 combo update.

    You are a star Léonie! Aperture now works, thank you so much, I was a little worried during the instalation of the combo update because I got a 'system extention cannot be used' warning (I've pasted it below) but I hit ok and it continued to instal and everything seems to be working fine, thanks again

    All the best

    I think you safely can ignore the warning. Probably the kernel extension in question was used previously for for printer drivers is now redundant, see this thread: http://throwable.wordpress.com/2009/10/25/cnql1212_classicnotseize-kext-was-inst alled-improperly/

    I am glad you could solve the problem.
