Hi ..
Only one Apple ID can be used with the device.
tied into my account
Which is similar to the merging of accounts which Apple does not allow.

Ok. So when i purchase an app on my id, it shows up across my other devices becasue those devices share my id. if the kids touches each have there own id, i would have to purchase the app on each device???
Yes. They can only sync/redownload apps purchased by your account if the iPOd is signed into yor accunt. You cange sign ins by going to Settings>Store and sign out and then sign in another account. If you have apps purchased by more than one account on the iPod and they need updates, you wll have to update them one at a times unttill the remaining apps that need updating are from on account. YOu have to be signed into the account that purchased them to update an app.
so my childs ipod can have two ids. one for them and the one for me where i purchase apps. sign on under me download it then sign out. then sign back in as them
