Can't get Safari to open Adobe Acrobate in the browser for PDF's

Hello,

I've installed Adobe Acrobat reader for MAC on my iMAC and I see the AdobePDFViewer.plugin in the library/internet plug-ins folder. When I launch Safari and look at the installed plug-ins Adobe isn't listed and Preview ends up opening all PDF's. I've tried to delete the AdobePDFViewer.plugin and have Acrobat detect and repair but it still doesn't seem to take? I'm running Tiger 10.4.5 with Safari 2.0.3(417.8). Any help is greatly appreciated.

OK -- I do like the side-by-side (2 pgs at once) that displays in Safari with Adobe Reader plug-in . . . it stopped working and became kind of frustrating not viewing .pdf's in Safari on-the-fly . . .

I just found ideas on another board to fix the Adobe Reader / Safai "hang" for .pdf's . . . . After the step "Deleting the offending Plug-in" . . . I opened the Acrobat application, and was prompted "Found a missing component (aka the plug-in, I guess), and had it "Fixed" . . .

Voila . . . Safari now reads again w/ Adobe. Hope it doesn't break again!

Do not install Acrobat on OS X. There is no uninstaller. Every time you click a pdf in Safari, it will take forever to load. I wish I could uninstall Acrobat..

rajbot: You can change your Acrobat settings so it doesn't open PDFs in a browser. Launch Acrobat, then go to Preferences > Internet and uncheck the box that says "Display PDF in browser."

Of course, you'll also want to install the Schubert-it plugin, if you haven't already. It's much faster to load in Safari.

Wild-Eep, I can confirm that Preview does not display filled-in form fields (example being IRS forms).

rajbot: you may also be able to find the offending plugin in your Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder and delete it. Just don't rerun Acrobat or it may reappear.
