i had model no. a1342 and i m having problem in it and its nt starting

i had had an apple laptop model no.a1342
and its nt working
as im starting it the whole screen is gray and at the middle of the screen one folder blinks with a question mark in between

what should i do ???

The following support article is somewhat outdated. Where it refers to booting from an installation disc, you should boot from your recovery partition (if running 10.7 or later) by holding down the key combination command-R at the chime.
