It continually fascinates me that experienced forum members seem to feel that post count is the de facto standard for determining a person's knowledge, and therefore, the correctness of their opinion.

What post count?  This forum does not have a post count but, of course, I wouldn't expect a clueless newbie to know that.

The level of points that a user has are not determined in any way by the number of posts that the user has made in the ASC. The points are awarded to the user by another user who has started a topic and has found a particular user's comment(s) helpful or that it provides a solution. The user who started a topic can award 1 solution that is 10 points and 2 helpfuls, which are 5 points each. You can mark your own comments as a solution or helpful but to no avail, you cannot award points to yourself. So someone who is a level 5 (five bullets under their avatar) has racked up a lot of comments deemed a solution or helpful by fellow users. They wouldn't have so many points if they didn't know about what they were speaking.

Dahveed is a realist, he's probably not happy with the issue either I bet.  Schools are even having employees create a separate dist account to redeem a code and not use their own personal apple ID to purchase apps on dist owned device.

I say create an account that can be shared with family, avoid the mess and of course let Apple know what you think.  Maybe this won't work I don't know, has any one tried this already?  Is flip flopping between accounts allowed on iPads and such?

You can commingle content from different Apple IDs on the same iOS device and in the same iTunes library on a Mac or PC if that is what you are asking. But there are limitations when it comes to iTunes content.

    1. You can only authorize 5 computers, Macs and/or PCs, for your own iTunes content.

    2. The content can only be installed on a total of 10 devices, including the 5 computers.

    3. Any content requiring an update can only be updated by the Apple ID that bought it.

YMMV in sorting all that out!

I have the same problem as lin_d; which is: I am a teacher and I have purchased apps for the school, but used my personal account. Now the question is this: If the school pays for those apps I've purchased on my device, but I leave school districts, I am, in a sense, inadvertantly "stealing" the apps BECAUSE THEY ARE ON MY ACCOUNT and I CANNOT transfer them to their rightful owners! So now I'm stuck with a no-win situation. So here is my question directed to LIN_D, how did you solve your problem? How did you set up your individual schools AND district to purchase apps for different teachers? Please let me know, as this will help others NOT make the same mistake that we did.

    Thanks!

p.s. Wanting to transfer apps is not STEALING, but rather it's trying to do the right and HONEST thing.

Yea it is pretty ridiculous that you can't transfer purchases to a new ID or at least be able to make your @me account the Apple ID.  For instance, my apple ID was disabled because of fraud.  So now I have to either make a new email address (which I don't want to do) or make a new apple ID and deal with two IDs...this is pretty troublesome.  People who want to transfer purchases will do so anyways.  They will simply burn it on a CD and hand it over.  Allowing people to transfer purchases would not contribute to piracy.  You should be allowed to transfer all rights to another apple ID in a mutually exclusive arrangement.  Once ownership is transferred you can't have it back.  So if I transferred ownership to my friend thinking he could get all my songs for free, then I would no longer have access.  He would have complete access and if he transfered it back to me, then he would lose access.  This is not a hard concept and I'm not sure why apple can't implement it.  It's kind of like authorizing but you can consolidate purchases in case you need to change your email for whatever reason.  And we should definitely be allowed to use our apple ID.  apple is moving towards having unity with all their devices and stores and softwares.  Why in the world would there not be one account?  So I have to sign in with my school email to make purchases and do imessaging, facetime etc.  But then I also have a @me account which I can send emails from and use as my personal email.  It would be so easy to have people say, facetime, or imessage me to my email when I send them emails.  But instead I have to say, hey this is my email, but facetime or imessage me on this email.  That's not the apple way.  They should figure this out soon.  It's starting to get frustrating.

another thing...there should be a way to share purchasing in case you want to allow your kids, or significant other to make purchases under an alternate email address.  you could enable that email address to purchase things but have limited access to what they could purchase or how much they could purchase or have a way the would send an alert for permission and then once you provide permission the download starts and it syncs to all authorized devices.  Man...i should work for apple.

    Actually you can set up family Apple IDs with monthly allowances through the iTunes Store;

yea not really.  the downloads go to a separate ID.  I want to give someone access to download stuff through my apple ID without using my apple ID and password.  I want my friend Joe Smith to log into his account with joesmith@gmail.com and make a purchase that sends me a request for permission to purchase, and once the download begings it downloads to my apple ID.  Completely different than what you are suggesting.

I am telling you what is already in place based on the fact that you cannot share content from your Apple ID in that manner. You can gift iTunes content and the individual can download it to their Apple ID. You can set up Apple IDs for family and give them allowances and when they are grown the content is still theirs when they leave home because it is connected to their Apple ID.

What you want isn't likely to ever be reality in the Apple ecosystem.

Well I should probably leave the Apple ecosystem and take all my friends with me because the things we all ask for as Apple consumers are not much.  The fact that I can't use my @me email as my Apple ID is another fact that I should sell my iPad, iPhone, MacBookPro, and iMac and Shuffle and find an alternative.  Apple is about making things simpler, so if that's not in the Apple ecosystem anymore, thank you for letting me so I can find a company that is.

Those who own the distribution rights for content sold via the iTunes store that includes DRM protection would need to approve or support any change with the existing system. Apple didn't make this stuff up for fun. This was done as a requirement by those who own the distribution rights for iTunes content that includes DRM protection.

You state that your Apple ID that involved your @me.com address was disabled because of fraud. It would seem that that is a good reason to disable the ID. What was the fraud? Who committed the fraud?
