If the iPhone is setup with a corp Apple ID, what is the issue? As long as the ID is not an Apple domain, the email address can be changed.

This has everything to do with the RIAA.

The RIAA doesn't allow Apple to allow customer's to transfer purchases between Apple IDs. What don't you understand about this? It's simple.

    It's called.

    COPYRIGHT INFRINGEMENT.

It is evidently simple to understand: You buy something, you don't want to use it anymore, you transfer your right to use it to someone else. When I buy a Iphone 4 and I don't want it anymore I sell it to someone else and go buy a 5.

Right now, right here, the only one steeling something is Apple, they are stealing those apps from those who BOUGHT THEM!

I think you're not understanding the difference between buying a physical object and licensing software. You purchased the phone. You purchased a license for the software. Transferring that software to other people was not part of the licensing agreement to which you agreed.

    Gutrot,

I did a little research, and it looks like your opinion can be questioned -  at least in Europe (I´m not a lawyer, so I might get this wrong):

Apparently, the European Court has decided in 2012 that anyone can actually pass/sell licensed software to others (agreements that don´t allow this would not be valid), as the purchaser of a software generally acquires the right to re-distribute/sell his used software in any way he or she wishes with the product/license. I remember that Microsoft did not like this decision...

    Here´s the case (C 128/11):
    http://eur-lex.europa.eu/LexUriServ/LexUriServ.do?uri=OJ%3AC%3A2012%3A287%3A0010 %3A0011%3Aen%3APDF

Can anyone tell me if this actually applies to apps and media files?
Right now, I can´t see why it would not... I´d love to hear more opinions on this.

    Cheers,

    Bernie

Hi people!! So I have a slightly different situation. There's a free app that I want to download, but it's only available in the U.S. store, and the problem is my Apple ID only works in the Chinese store. I tried switching my region to the U.S. but it then asks me for a U.S. credit card and billing address which I don't have. I wanted to ask a friend who does have a U.S. account to buy it for me (it's free anyway) and then transfer the app and the license to me, but from reading all this, it seems like I can't do it this way. I also came across the method of having the friend purchase a gift code or something, and then I can just go to the iTunes store and redeem it. But if the app is not available in the store where my Apple ID functions, does this mean that the gifting method won't work too? Is there any way that I can possibly get that app??? THanks in advance!!

    Short answer, no.

This is the way that the system is set up and you're trying to get around it. That isn't what Apple of the developers want. If the developers wanted folks in China to have their app, they would distribute it to China.

What about my case? When i turn on iCloud my phone stops working. Something in my iCloud is interfering with the function of the phone. I can't use Siri, I can't use maps, I can't use reminders, and I rely very heavily on these apps. I don't have the time or the patience to deal with this! I have been to the genius bar, I have been on 6 calls to apple support. I have spent hours and days doing restore, reset etc. I need to setup a new iCloud account and start fresh to resolve the problem. But there is now way in **** I am going to throw away all of my purchases!

If I have to do that all of my apple products go bye bye! samsung galaxy in my future? Anybody want to buy a macbook pro? Ipad mini? 2 apple tv's? Iphone 4 and 5 and tons of accessories for all? LOL

An iCloud ID can be separate from your Apple store ID, so you won't lose purchases.

    Phil388,

There is an App for that:  Business owners can control the devices with this.

Forgive me but I don't want to read 29 pages.

I have one apple id I have had for years.  Lots of purchases.  Way before icloud was a thought.

I have a new icloud account and email.

I want to have my PRIMARY email on the apple ID with my purches be my new icloud email.... says I cant do that because my icloud email is already used with another ID (which of course is mine).

So this is ********... I have an apple ID with lots of purchases tied to a Yahoo email I don't use anymore... I simply want my ID with those purchases to use my icloud as primary email...

    And I guess I can't.

    Unbelievable.

Perhaps read his post again. What you offer here isn't true based on the facts that he gave you. His iCloud email address is already an Apple ID. He can't use it again with another Apple ID.

This is totally ********......  so I am stuck with all my purchases linked to a crappy yahoo account rather than my everyday icloud account.  Unbelievable.

    Hi All,

I replied to this twice, in a friendly manner. The first time with an admittedly I was slightly ironic at the manufacturer for treating this as a low priority. The second time I provided the technical solution they requested but I dare to question the removal.

I say it clearly: Whoever did the edit was totally rightous and correct in removing my post.

Now to the only "solution" to this problem that I can see so far: Either accept that Apple doesn't allow you to transfer any apps previously purchased to anyone - even if you intend to gift it and also it is impossible to setup an iPad as a shared devices, not 100% that is - as you will always have to register the product with a single Apple ID and thus Credit Card.

That is you really have only one work around solution if you go down that path... that is:

    A. For transferring apps from one user to another

    1. Delete your app from your account

    2. Re-pruchase the app at full price under the Apple ID of your spouse/mate/brother/sister/cousin

    3. If this is a gift, give him cash for the exact amount of the purchase. You could also temporarily register your credit card number with his/her Apple ID, but who would want to do that. Cash is probably the best solution to purchasing an app. It's very 19th Century, but what can I say. Maybe you can also buy a gift voucher though I doubt there is one that is exactly priced like the app you are going to buy.

    4. If that person is under age, and thus cannot own a credit card by themselves, and thus cannot register with an Apple ID + Credit Card number and thus cannot purchase any App even if it was legal for an underaged to have an Apple ID: (a) setup a secondary account under your name for your underage son/daughter (b) register your credit card information (c) buy the app (d) delete your credit card information from that secondary account (as they are under age and you don't want them to purchase things at random, even if it was password protected there's still a chance they could find out the password) (e) repeat process everytime they want to buy a new level in the latest Electronic Arts or Sega game.

    B. For a joint device:

    1. Delete all the apps you have purchased and cut your losses

    2. Setup a "joint" Bank Account with Credit Card with whoever you want to share the iPad with

    3. Setup a new user account that you will share with your family

    4. Re-purchase, at full price, all the apps you have already purchased

Hope this helps. If it doesn't I strongly suggest the iPad is not a product for you and you may want to look at alternatives or perhaps consider giving it away. That is ultimately what I resorted to.

Hope this gets past overzealous "editors" at the host of this forum.
