The key thing to know about Lion is that PowerPC code will no longer run, as the Rosetta emulator is no longer included.  To see if you're using any PowerPC code, click the apple on the menu bar, about this mac, more info, applications, and click on 'kind' to sort the applications. Any that say PowerPC will no longer run with Lion. So, for example, if you use Office 2004 today, it won't run under Lion. Later versions are universal applications, and not subject to the PowerPC constraints.

Besides that, you'll want at least 4GB of memory for Lion. 2GB is the minimum, and a number of people have had performance issues which were fixed with 4GB.

You'll likely have to upgrade printer drivers, and possibly non-Apple software under Lion. Software Update may pick up the printer drivers for you. Look at your login items, look at the System Preferences window at the bottom, and look down your Applications list for non-Apple applications, then go to the appropriate web sites to see if there is an update to run under Lion.

Thank you for your help. I need to have 2 more GB installed. I used to install my self on older macs. I don't know if I should try myself.
