When installing OS X Lion v10.7, I get an option to select the disc where to install it.
My hardisc that is Macnitosh HD is being displayed but when i select it, its displaying that this drive cannot be used to start up your computer.
What should I do?

I have seen this happen when there is a time machine file in the root of your hard drive.
Are you able to open terminal and type the command:
ls -la /
Then copy and paste the result into a post here.

Im having the same problem, so i typed in that sequence in the terminal and this is what came up
