Why does my MacBook not connect to my HDTV
I have connected my MacBook to my HDTV via the suggested rout (mini-adpator/HDMI cable) but no TV icon shows in the top toolbar of my Mac ... what am I doing wrong?
MacBook, Mac OS X (10.7.2)

In System Preferences>Display check the box for Show Displays In Menu Bar.
