I noticed in intunes connect there is a 10% discount on hardware, but it doesn't mention ipads. Is the discount only offered on macs, ipod touches and appletvs?
If so, that doesn't make a whole lot of sense since we need ipads for the ibooks author testing
This is the first I've heard of this. I am awaiting the announcement of the new iPad(s) today. It has been suggested that Apple will discount earlier models. We should have abetter perspective in a few hours. - Fabe

As well, don't forget to check for refurbished iPads in the store - there are good discounts there when those become available.

in itunesconnect there is a link to the US and canadian sotes to buy at discount and then phone numbers. The messaging is
"Shop for Apple products using your hardware discount at these exclusive Apple Stores. You are provided with a significant discount on two Apple computers, two iPods, and one Apple TV per year."
Isn't that the 'educator/student' discount...?
Why would an educator/student have access to itunesconnect where the links and phone numbers are?
Maybe they have an iBook account...

as for why - because you are developing for their platform so it's used for testing etc. This would only be for paid book accounts by the way, if you have a free one i wouldn't imagine it is offered.

Devs don't get that discount...at least not yet...
But if all you have to do is sign up, which costs nothing, and then you get a discount...seems uncharacteristically generous for Apple.
Once this becomes common knowledge, I can see people jumping in just to get the discount, whether they have a book to put in the store or not.
