    Hi there,

I think I have the same issue with itunes 10.6

Where can I find the previous version?

For reference, for someone who might know what all this means, here is the error log that keeps coming.

In my case, it seems to crash when changing the album cover sizes, but I haven't tried all the other menus.

I tried locating the music to another directory, and then adding back to the library, etc.  Also tried erasing the preferences file, etc.  I dowloaded the same itunes 10.6 version twice, still the same problem.

If there is a place I can download the previous version it would be the best solution.... Any help?????

iTunes 10.6 is not on either the iPod or the iPhone.

Does iTunes launch with neither connected?

I believe I do have the 10.6 on all devices, but I do not know how to find out as I cannot open the management window in iTunes, but both devices have had updates downloaded to them. I have not had any problems with iTunes when not connected to the devices yet.

Similar problem here on Mac Mini running Snow Leopard.

iTunes seems to work OK until switched to album cover display mode (cover flow is OK.)  Sometimes it doesn't crash if I don't attempt to scroll the cover display, but always does if I do.

I'm not using iTunes for anything but music library and Internet radio.  No iPods, iPads or other devices, no video or podcasts, no plug-ins.  iTunes was upgraded to 10.6 on March 10, and started crashing the first time I used it to play music on March 11.

This is very annoying since it is necessary to go into cover display mode to play individual albums, and this is the way I prefer to play my music.  Now, to play an album I must carefully select it in list mode or cover flow and then switch to cover display to ensure no scrolling occurs.  And, I must switch out of cover display before closing iTunes to ensure it doesn't crash immediately the next time I start it.

I've opened a case with Apple Support, but haven't actually spoken to anyone yet.

This issue is shameful in a mature product like iTunes running on Apple's own OS X operating system.

Ok, I fixed the problem by re-installing the previous itunes version.

There is a good reply somewhere here, showing how to do this.

I guess now we have to wait until these bugs are cleared and then upgrade later?

Perhaps you can try reinstalling the previous version.

It fixed the issue on my Mac.

    Hope it fixes yours too.

well, I am using OSX 10.7.3 and the latest IOS on the iPhone and I downloaded 10.6 iTunes on my iMac i7,

I mean, none of the above is alien!! or antiquated!! so why, why, why ??? APPLE DID IT NOT WORK !!!

I am sure it is a little bug, funny thing is that it works fine on my Macbook !! which is older than the iMac.

Looks like we're getting our just desserts now,

having relied on a closed-source, completely

proprietary platform for managing our media.

How many of us have purchased hundreds of

dollars in apps, music and videos through iTunes,

only to find with the latest and "greatest" update,

iTunes 10.6, that we have now been locked out

of our media and are utterly screwed?

Normally, I have tolerance for all things tech,

but in Apple's case, I cannot understand how

they could have missed this blunder.

Now we all get to send support feedback and

overload Apple with complaints, because someone

didn't do his/her job and uploaded a build to the

iTunes update server that crashes for thousands

    of people.

God, I feel sorry for those support folks.

Well, I went back to the Genius bar yesterday and the new Genius was able to correct the problem.  He created a new library by accessing iTunes through "Command O".  I'm not sure how he did everything but it works now.  Apparently, the upgrade corrups the old library.  The only inconvenience was I had to sync my iPod to the new library.  If you're not sure how to do it I would strongly recommend using a Genius if it's convenient.  I say this because it's possible when creating the new library you could lose all of your old playlists.  You won't lose any media but some playlists can be pretty time consuming to create.  Also, he let slip that this is how he fixed his own iTunes after upgrading.  So, Apple should be well aware of this glitch if their own employees are experiencing it.

Without trying any of the steps above, I decided to take a different tack.

Every time that iTunes 10.6 crashed for me, it had occured after I clicked the

red "Maximize" button on the mini-player.

So what I tried this time was to simply start playing a song with the mini-player,

stopped it, and then maximized iTunes.

Bingo! - it worked. Now I can see the album cover art without crashing,

    and without importing/exporting anything.

What it looks like is that there is a serious crashing bug that occurs when

the mini-player is maximized initially after starting iTunes.

However, iTunes crashes at other times when switching to album cover art

    preview mode.

List view seems to work without crashing, as does Album List view.

Grid view, however, will consistently crash and burn the app.

What this means is that we're stuck with using List mode or Album List view

    until Apple fixes this bug.
